Why “Sold on Story”?

He stood on the blacktop basketball court and stared ahead blankly as I approached.

“Hey, good morning! How’s it going?” I asked.

“OK, I guess,” he replied with a look that belied his words.

“Do anything special this weekend?” I asked, trying to break this 14 year old out of his daze and bring him to life.

“Well, my dad died this weekend,” he replied.

“Why … why are you here this morning?” I asked as my mind struggled for answers or even my next words.

“Where else would I go? Where else could I be?” he asked.

I learned a lot about life that morning a few years ago.

It is not and will not be what you expect. You never know when you will walk into the most important story of a person’s life. Which role will you play when you get there? Spectator? Reviewer? Hero? Villain?

I started this site with the name reflecting the most important thing about me.

I am sold on story.
