Tonight, I dusted off the ol’ elliptical and got back in the saddle again.
After my surgery and eight weeks of not being able to lift more than a plate, my weight bloomed up to 233 pounds. I went on a keto diet and dropped that down to 220 pretty easily. But, no matter what I have tried, I have not been able to break the 220 pound mark.
I have only used my kayak once and my elliptical once since my procedure, so I figured why not give it a crack tonight and see how I fared? I thought about it for a while (and put it off) until I got an iFit e-mail today about doing six elliptical exercises this month to get a reward in the mail.
Who knows? It is probably a discounted iFit membership since my membership runs our in February .. it does not matter. I like challenges. Now I only have to complete five more exercise routines between now and the end of the month and I can earn some mail … I like that.
Now, I just have to get back to my dietary discipline and break that 220 barrier. My goal is to be able to get back to a Couch to 5K program in January, so I am hoping to build up some kind of endurance between now and then.
Did you know 30 minutes of exercise has been proven to clear your mind? Just thirty minutes of a moderately paced walking will get blood pumping through your brain in such a way that it flushes out the toxins and literally helps clear your mind.
So, if you are in a situation where you “can’t even,” lace up your shoes and walk away for a while … you’ll be amazed at what you will be able to come back and do.
